Selenite is one of the most beloved stones to keep in a collection. Known as a cleansing stone that never needs cleansing itself, it is a welcome companion during meditation and energy work.
Traditionally connected with the crown and higher chakras, Selenite is associated with cleansing, divine connection and chakra alignment, and with Archangel Michael. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek word for moon, a nod to its pearly white glow. Selenite grows in long rectangular crystals, and some of the largest crystals ever found, in the Naica Mine in Mexico, are Selenite.
Please care for it gently. Selenite is soft and its gypsum base is water soluble, so keep it away from water, salt and humid spaces like bathrooms or outdoor altars. It is made of thousands of fine, hair like crystals growing together and may shed a little. Even if it picks up oils or ash with use, it is still beautiful and still doing its quiet work.
