On South Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Topanga, California, Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks share one remarkable property. Jalan Jalan Imports has served the Los Angeles area since 2011 with hand-carved Indonesian statuary, teak and teak root furniture, petrified wood and unique handicrafts, while Topanga Rocks offers a breathtaking variety of crystals and rocks from around the world.
Meet Brian
Owner Brian Gibson fell in love with Bali, its crafts and its culture during a vacation in 1994. Ten years later, after buying a home in Topanga, he traveled back to Bali to buy furniture and building materials for his property, and what he didn't use was sold to the community. That was the first of several trips and many containers of Bali treasures, imported and sold from his garage. Brian likes to joke that nearly every household in Topanga has something from his inventory.
The recession of 2008 put the brakes on things, but in 2010 the property where the store now sits came on the market, and Brian was inspired to buy it and turn his intermittent importing into a real business. Over the years he and his staff began bringing crystals and rocks into the product line. In 2020 the store was renovated, and the interior shifted to mostly crystals and rocks, while the outside has stayed mostly Balinese imports.
“After 12 years in business, we feel like we’ve evolved into carrying the most unique inventory of goods imaginable. Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks has grown to be one of the Los Angeles area’s most interesting destinations. It’s more than a store, it’s an experience.”

What you will find at Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks
Inside, Topanga Rocks carries what it calls the most stunning and diverse collection of crystals and stones in Los Angeles, sourced from all over the world and often direct from the mine. You will find the popular crystals and many that are hard to find, from rough to polished and carved, with clean presentation and information to help guide each customer to the crystals that most benefit them. The shop also offers authentic stone bracelets and jewelry, including the Gutesha Collection by Topanga artist Joyce Gutesha, a jewelry designer and collector for over thirty years who makes and sources one-of-a-kind, heirloom quality pieces.

Outside, the gallery offers what the store describes as the largest selection of hand-carved statuary in Los Angeles, from Buddhas, Ganeshas, goddesses and animals to carved wood and bronze pieces. There is teak root furniture, reclaimed teak and petrified wood from Indonesia that is 8 to 12 million years old. Virtually every item is one of a kind, and inventory changes daily, so there is something new on every visit.
Owl Falls

On the same property is Owl Falls, a three-story, spring fed waterfall that runs all year long. For thousands of years it served as a primary drinking source and an important gathering place for the indigenous Chumash and Gabrielino-Tongva people. Visitors often say they feel transported to an exotic land, filled with sights and sounds that awaken the senses and leave them at peace.
How Jalan Jalan Imports helps the world
The store has brought metaphysical services into its work to educate and improve the lives of its customers. These include crystal gridding personalized to each client's goals and intentions, space cleansing for a single room or an entire property, and astrology and oracle readings, plus workshops and crystal education. The team includes Sushanna Jordan, Joyce Gutesha, Connie Levine, Allie Komada-John and Marcia Arajo.
Customers feel the difference. One Yelp reviewer quoted on the store's site called it “not only a store; but an experience,” and a longtime customer wrote that Brian “only sells the very best” and that “from the moment you walk in you can feel the energy.”
